Live Writing by Ralph Fletcher Ch. 3-4

I really enjoyed the dialogue writing we did in class. It gave me a chance to realize how my students feel under that kind of pressure. I was just put in a situation where I had to come up with characters and a story with little time to actually think about what I wanted to write about. I kept telling myself to think and think fast. That made me so nervous I wasn't thinking about what to write, instead I was freaking out about how nervous I was and how I still had nothing on my paper.

I really love the way Fletcher writes. He has really helped me improve my writing. I am constantly referring back to the book to make myself a better writer.
On page 28, Fletcher says, "I am drawn to characters who make me feel deeply--make me mad, confuse me, make me wonder, break my heart, stagger me with what they are up against." This line really meant a lot to me because I really look at the character to relate to a book. I think it is hard to write a story without great characters. Khaled Hosseini is really good at doing this. I really enjoyed his book, A Thousand Splendid Suns. I love feeling what the character feels, and Hosseini's book is the first one that ever made me cry!
