Placement
PTLS!!!! It's not a hard project just time consuming! There are things in it that I will probably never use, but I am learning a lot through the process. It has NOT been a challenge to add literacy to this project! I kind of get mad when I don't see teachers integrating SS and Reading! It's so easy! Our topic was the Holocaust. We had so many children's literature to use and even some novels! My favorite was The Lily Cupboard. The students loved it and asked so many intriguing questions. The book is about a little Jewish girl, whose family sends her away to a German family. The book talks about how she has to hide. You could easily do a compare and contrast activity with another story. The students also wrote some letters (MAJOR LITERACY)! The students got to demonstrate a letter format, their grammar, and spelling skills. I have enjoyed the lessons, but my teacher would have done anything to NOT teach such an extensive lesson in SS due to CRCT. I understand her stress and why she might have felt that way. She never said it, but I could tell how she felt.
