1. What do you see as your role in an inclusive environment?
I hope to reach out to each student no matter what their needs are. My role would be to make sure each student is successful in what they do. I would need to adjust lessons and environment to make it "fair" for each student. What's fair is not always equal.
2. How will you collaborate with special education teachers?
I will try to have meetings with them on a regular basis. Weekly meetings would be awesome, but if the time was available. I will try to keep in touch with them via conferences and even emails! I will use them as a resource! The special education teachers will hopefully have the resources available to assist students with needs. Their resources could also be helpful for my regular ed. students!
3. How can you make sure that you are reaching students of all levels? (so hard)
I am already struggling with this. It is probably the hardest part about teaching but I hope I can improve. I will try different learning techniques to cater all learning styles. I will try to challenge all my students. This does not mean giving everyone the same kind of work. I have been in a few classrooms where the classroom is made up of a few FOCUS students. I have not seen much done by the teacher except extra work when they finish early. I don't want to do this. I will try to make sure I challenge them to the point where they are motivated to do the work. I will try to know of their interest and make sure they are motivated to do the work to the best of their ability. I do not know the real answer to the question and I'm not sure if anyone else does. If they do, I would love to hear about it. I feel like I have just blabbered on about this questions, trying to get my thoughts together, and I realized I probably did not even answer the question. =(
4. What is your role in an IEP meeting
Well hopefully I can have enough data to get the IEP meeting going. I have heard how hard it is to get an IEP for a student. I have also heard the role of a teacher is just to provide feedback and understand the plan. Hopefully I will be able give some input and ideas.
