This video was shown to us by Mrs. Hampton. It is called Power Teaching/ Whole Brain Teaching. I have been so fascinated by it! I love it!
I love how it is very easy to get the attention of the class. The teacher teaches something and then stop so the students can repeat it. As the teacher is teaching, he uses gestures. The students do the exact same. I have been using a lot of gestures and body language with my ELLs and it seems to be VERY helpful! They also love to act it out with me. For example, we wrote the word walk. Then, the students acted out the word walk. Then, we wrote fly and acted it out. When I am giving directions I will act it out. For example, I will say "First, you will write your name." As I say "first" I will hold up the number one with my finger. When I say "write," I will act like I am writing. It seems to be very effective.

I think I will try whole brain teaching in my own classroom! It can get loud at times, but I will use it when needed. I guess I will find out how to work with it as I try it out. Hopefully I will get a chance to try it in my student teaching!

Here it is a form of it being used in Kindergarten:
