Placement Week 3
WORKSHEETS! WORKSHEETS! WORKSHEETS! Seems like that's all 5th grade teachers love! If the students are not following directions, the teacher will threaten them with more worksheets for homework! And guess who gets to grade all those worksheets? The GSU Intern that has been trained really well to avoid worksheets! I try my best to teach as many lessons as possible so that the students can have some hands-on experiences! I want them to actually learn the material and remember it longer than a few hours! I have already been told the students whine when I am not available to teach the lesson! That makes me happy and goes to show how much they hate the worksheets too! As the teacher plans, I try to give her as many ideas as I can. She usually agrees and loves the ideas, but at the end of the lesson, the students get a worksheet! She has binders full of them! It is so frustrating to watch the students do these worksheets and not learn a thing. I know this because I am a product of this!
